Future Value
Future value (FV) represents the amount an investment is projected to reach later on. For instance, funds placed in a savings account or a bond generate compound interest, causing their worth to change over time.
A classic illustration of this calculation is a savings account: its future value shows the balance you’ll have at a certain future date. Using our calculator, enter $10 as the present value, a 6 % annual rate, and a term of 1 year (ignore any regular payments). Hitting calculate yields an FV of $10.60, meaning your $10 today would grow to $10.60 after one year.
